Santa Julia is the more affordable label from the Zuccardi family — the same family behind Piedra Infinita out in the Uco Valley. The gap between the two tastings is close to threefold, which tells you plenty about what you are paying for at the top end.
It sits in Maipú, the wine area closest to Mendoza city. That makes it a sensible first stop: you learn how a bodega visit is structured, you find out whether you actually like Malbec or whether you have been agreeing with people about it, and it costs neither a whole day nor a serious amount of money.
What kind of visit this is
Straightforward and approachable. A guided walk, a tasting of wines you can realistically buy at home, and none of the ceremony of the flagship estates. I would not build a trip around it, but I would put it first in the week and then go up from there.
Maipú being flat and close to town also means you can reach it easily and pair it with a second stop the same day.
Do you need to book?
Yes. Reserve in advance, the same as everywhere else around Mendoza — walk-ins are not how this region works, and that catches out more visitors than anything else. Book direct or take it as part of the Bus Vitivinícola circuit; the price here comes from that circuit’s list as of July 2026 and, with Argentine inflation, should be read as an indication rather than a quote.
